Good Medicine

This Thanksgiving, I’m going to do something a bit different.

From now until the end of November, I’m going to share with you some of my favorite landscapes, a little bit about their heritage and the people whose traditional lands they belong to.

I absolutely love California State Park, Anza-Borrego. Anza-Borrego is the home to the Cahuilla and Kumeyaay people.

Did you know there are over 42 indigenous plants to the Anza Borrego desert that are used in Native American traditional medicines? From desert agave to arrow weed, mesquite, sagebrush and sage—there is a wide diversity of plants that provide both food and medicine.
